The Agri-clinics and Agri-Business Centers (ACABC) initiative was launched by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. It’s a unique program to take better farming methods to every farmer across the country through a large pool of available agriculture professionals. In addition, the program creates gainful self-employment opportunities for the unemployed agricultural graduates and establishes linkages for income generation and entrepreneurship development. This initiative involves setting up Agri-Clinics to provide expert advice and services to farmers on various technologies, including cropping practices, plant protection, crop insurance, and post-harvest technology. Agri-Business centers, commercial units of agricultural ventures established by trained and certified agriculture professionals, are also set up under this scheme. Such ventures may include maintenance and custom hiring of farm equipment, sale of inputs, and other services in agriculture, including post-harvest management and marketing and selling of the produce. This program is being coordinated by National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE), responsible for providing training to eligible candidates through Nodal Training Institutes (NTIs).
