Mahila Kisan Sashkatikaran Pariyojna
Tribal Woman Agriculture Transformation with MKSP
Mahila Kisan Sashkatikaran Pariyojna, the ambitious project of Government of India, Ministry of Rural Development covers Empowerment of 4500 woman farmers in diversified farming activities from 92 Villages of Mandla & Dindori Districts with a budgetary provision of Rs. 2.5 Crores during 2011-2014. The proposed budget largely carries the task of building capacities of the women farmers by creating a cadre of 500 strong Community Resource Persons (CRPs). A large scale convergence of funds from other running government and non government programs is also being explored for the non budget items like measure for soil and water conservation on the agriculture field, farm pond development by linking with IWMP and NREGA. Similarly agriculture inputs are scoped through ATMA under RKVY and through SDTT program of Mahakaushal Agriculture initiative. The institution building part is largely covered under the Tejaswani program of the MP Mahila Arthik Vit Vikas Nigam (an IFAD supported program). The local level cooperation from DRDAs, KVK and Agriculture University is also acknowledged for support in appropriate technology transfer.
The Maikal hill region comprising Mandla and Dindori districts can develop as a market hub of chemical free grains (organic), exotic and traditional vegetables and fruits, pulses, oil seeds and minor millets. It has tremendous unexplored potential which can be exploited in a systematic manner by developing an integrated network of basic infrastructure from village level to district level along with strengthening the capacity of women farmers. The aim is to create and evolve new livelihood pattern for women by strengthening their traditional livelihood base and introduce alternative livelihood system by integrating scientific knowledge, appropriate technologies. The capacity building is an indispensable part for this sustainability effort. It is envisaged that by building their capacities through systematic technical inputs, the women will gain more control over the production resources and manage the support systems, maintain backward and forward linkages and draw benefit from the government schemes. The main components of project are capacity building, demonstration of new crop varieties and conservation of traditional varieties, farmer field school, primary & secondary agro processing, market network, etc.
