NABARD TDF Wadi Project

NABARD TDF Wadi Project is implemented by CARD in 10 villages of Nalchha Block of Dhar District. The duration of project is 2013-18. The main object of the project is income generation of tribal farmers through horticulture and vegetable cultivation. Total 500 Wadies have been approved and out of these 233 wadies have been established in six villages namely; Sodpur, Kothisodpur, Bhilberkheda, Gugli, Bhilkunda and Bakankheda villages.

Each Wadi is proposed for one acre land out of which 10 percent area is reserved for Mandva system (spice and vegetable cultivation) and in the remaining land 44 horticulture plants (grafted Mango; Dashehary and Langada and Guava) are planted. There are 20 teak saplings for border plantation. The overall survival of plans is 70 percent.

Famers have taken advantage of Mandva System of spices and vegetable cultivation for immediate extra income. Ginger, Turmeric, Onion and garlic seeds have also been distributed to promote intercropping. Farmers on an average earn Rs 10000 to Rs 15000 through sale of vegetables and spices.

Trainings and health camps are also organized in selected villages. Special trainings are organized for strengthening women groups. Low cost vermin compost units are established to promote organic farming.
