Samruddhi Project for Holistic Development
The four-year Samruddhi (Holistic Development) Program is a joint collaboration of John Deere India CSR and CARD, Bhopal. The Program has been developed to make a positive difference in the lives of the communities in and around the John Deere India Factory facilities at Pune, Dewas and Sirhind.
Vision: Vulnerable communities evidently improve their economic and social well-being.
Program Mission: To bolster living conditions of partner communities by improving infrastructure, agricultural productivity, educational quality and economic opportunities. The program objectives are:

Objective 2: Increase quality of food, life & security
Agriculture has been the mainstay of many residents in the target communities and with a little help they can dramatically increase their quality of food, incomes and food security. Activities under this objective will address three key areas identified through our assessments: improving agricultural practices, improving access to extension and micro credit services, promoting agriculture allied activities.
Objective 3: Improve educational quality and facilities
Activities under this objective will improve the quality of education available to underserved populations, including girls and women, from early childhood to adult learning through multiple institutions. The four primary institutions will be targeted to increase access to quality education, these are; Anganwadis, primary and secondary schools, vocational training centers and self-help groups (SHG).
Objective 4: Increase youth vocational skills and employability
Activities under this objective will create new economic opportunities for youth in the Samruddhi partner communities by identifying vocational skills that meet the needs of local industries, and bridging the gap between employers and job seekers.
A cross-cutting theme will be promoting volunteerism among John Deere India employees.
Each quarter one event would be organized by the partner organization at Dewas, Sirhind and Pune to support the project activities on the ground through John Deere employee
The Samruddhi program is being implemented in 20 selected community habitations that have been identified as under:
- Dewas: villages of Jaitpura, Jamgod, Khatamba, Kankund, and Satbardi around the Dewas tractor manufacturing unit of John Deere.
- Sirhind: villages of Amampura, Chailela and Rith Kheri around the Sirhind manufacturing unit of John Deere.
- Pune Urban: Urban slums namely TarvadeVasti, Mahatma Phule and four new slums (Lohiya Nagar, Gosavo Vasti, Shinde Vasti and Sainath Vasti) in Hadapsar ward near John Deere’s technology center in Magarpatta.
- Pune Rural: villages of Sanaswadi, Shikrapur, Dhanore, Darekarwadi, Lonikand and Talegaon Dhamdhere near Pune manufacturing unit of John Deere.
- Nagpur: villages of Metaumri, Neeldoh and Mangrul near Nagpur parts distribution centre, John Deere.
CARD is directly implementing the programme in Dewas, Sirhind and Nagpur and through partner NGOs in selected community habitations of Pune rural (Cohesion Foundation) and in Pune urban (Mashal), and Vocational training programme is being implemented by Labournet for the youth in Pune.
The Samruddhi project has been designed as a long term comprehensive integrated development programme spread over different locations. However, initially the Project had been proposed for a period of one year, starting 1st July, 2015 to 30th June, 2016. This has now been extended to another year, till 2017 following the same objectives.
